Sing Me a Fable › Play Me Arcade › Q
Q is for Quarrelsomeness
The Squabbling Badgers
Two brother badgers who cannot share anything — until a fox notices.
What happens in it
Ned and Ted fight over a room, an apple, a watermelon, a blanket and finally their bread. You choose what they say next — the squabbling answer or the sharing one — and watch it play out.
Choose what they say
Each level has two scenes. The badgers argue, then two answers appear: the red one keeps the fight going, the green one shares.
Nothing is timed and there is no going back — whichever they say plays out, and the squabbling one is usually the funnier picture.
The bar at the top is Squabble. It fills when they fight and drains when they share.
On level 3 a dial counts five seconds while the Fox creeps closer. It is only there to hurry you — running out costs nothing, and the game waits.
Tap a button, or use the left and right arrow keys.

Why quarrelsomeness is one of the twenty-six
Sing Me a Fable is an alphabet of faults, one for every letter, from Aggression to Zealotry. Q is quarrelsomeness, and this is the playable half of that fable: the child makes the choice the animal makes, and watches what it costs. Nobody explains the moral afterwards, which is the whole point of a fable and the reason the form has lasted two and a half thousand years.
Every letter has one: twenty-six fables, twenty-six faults, twenty-six games. See the whole arcade, or take the twenty-six colouring posters and Find the Error sheets free.
