Sing Me a Fable › Play Me Arcade › B
B is for Boastfulness
Sebastian the Bragging Swan
The finest voice on the lake, and the pond that takes him down a peg.
What happens in it
Sebastian is sure he is the finest bird on the lake and will not stop saying so. Penelope covers her ears, Silas glides quietly by, and one proud step puts Sebastian in the pond. Twice a level you choose what Sebastian does, and it plays out.
Choose what he does
Each level has two scenes. Two things the hero could do appear, and you pick one.
Nothing is timed and there is no going back - whichever you pick plays out.
The right answer is not always on the same side, so read both.
Tap a card, or use the left and right arrow keys.
The three levels
- The Lakeside Opera — Trumpeting Loud, then The Lakeside Scene
- The Swamp Fall — Pride's Deep Spell, then Into the Swamp
- The Humble Heart — Gliding By, then The Peaceful Pond
Why boastfulness is one of the twenty-six
Sing Me a Fable is an alphabet of faults, one for every letter, from Aggression to Zealotry. B is boastfulness, and this is the playable half of that fable: the child makes the choice the animal makes, and watches what it costs. Nobody explains the moral afterwards, which is the whole point of a fable and the reason the form has lasted two and a half thousand years.
Every letter has one: twenty-six fables, twenty-six faults, twenty-six games. See the whole arcade, or take the twenty-six colouring posters and Find the Error sheets free.
