T is for Thievery
Pippa the Magpie
A magpie who cannot walk past anything that glitters — and taking it is never an accident.
What happens in it
Pippa steals a robin’s berries, a sparrow’s silver thread and a squirrel’s golden acorn. Twice a level you choose what she does, and it plays out.
Choose what she does
Each level has two scenes. Somebody has something shiny, and two things Pippa could do appear.
Nothing is timed and there is no going back — whichever you pick plays out.
In the last level, giving back what she stole earns nothing on its own. The star is for the gold watch left lying on the table with nobody watching.

The three levels
- The Temptation Of Shiny Things — Robin’s Nest, then Sparrow’s Sewing Corner
- The Greedy Hoard — Squirrel’s Golden Acorn, then The Dark Hollow
- The Great Return — The Apology Tour, then The Last Shiny Thing
Why thievery is one of the twenty-six
Sing Me a Fable is an alphabet of faults, one for every letter, from Aggression to Zealotry. T is thievery, and this is the playable half of that fable: the child makes the choice the animal makes, and watches what it costs. Nobody explains the moral afterwards, which is the whole point of a fable and the reason the form has lasted two and a half thousand years.
Every letter has one: twenty-six fables, twenty-six faults, twenty-six games. See the whole arcade, or take the twenty-six colouring posters and Find the Error sheets free.
